Lego builds Sauron's tower Barad-dûr from "Lord of the Rings"

It is 83 cm high and 45 cm wide: the Lego tower Barad-dûr (10333). The new set shows Sauron's residence in Mordor and comes with several features and mini-figures. In total, the Lego tower consists of 5471 pieces, for which the Danish toy manufacturer charges 460 euros. It will be available from June 4 and costs 460 euros. Lego insiders can already buy it on June 1.

In Tolkien's Lord of the Rings story, Barad-dûr is the fortress from which Sauron's eye watches the events in Middle-earth with interest. As with previous "Lord of the Rings" sets, Lego has based its design on the film trilogy, whose fans should feel right at home with the new set.

With a glowing eye and palantir

Measuring 83 cm x 45 cm x 30 cm, Barad-dûr is one of the larger Lego sets, which is why the manufacturer recommends it for adults. The set offers enough space for various gadgets. For example, in the depths of Sauron's fortress there is Gollum's lair, a weapons forge with models of Sauron's club and Elendil's sword, as well as a dungeon with a cage. There is also a pantry, a throne room and a secret room containing a palantir.

The gate to the fortress is automated and the Eye of Sauron lights up thanks to a Lego light brick that can illuminate the eye at an angle from below. The set also includes a total of ten minifigures: Gollum, Frodo, Sam, the Mouth of Sauron, a few Orcs - and Sauron himself, dressed in black armor with a spiked helmet. In total, the building consists of four different modules that can be opened and played with separately.

The Lego set Barad-dûr is therefore the dark counterpart to the Rivendell set that Lego released last year. However, the Rivendell set is slightly larger overall: it consists of 6167 pieces and comes with 15 minifigures. At a price of 500 euros, it is also slightly more expensive.
